After the death of nearly 66,000 innocent Palestinians and the injury and displacement of countless people, the United States has already announced a comprehensive 20-point plan to end the war in Gaza. Arab and Western countries have also expressed support for this plan. The proposed framework includes ceasefire, prisoner exchanges, withdrawal of Israeli forces, an International Stabilization Force (ISF), the reconstruction of Gaza, and humanitarian assistance, which appear to be positive steps.
However, under the supervision of a so-called “Peace Board” led by Trump and the notorious Tony Blair, will Palestinian sovereignty in Gaza truly be established? Or will the people of Gaza continue to face oppression under indirect Israeli control? Can the United States – Israel’s most trusted ally and a direct supporter and facilitator of brutal genocide – truly remain neutral?
History shows that Israel has repeatedly violated international laws and agreements. Moreover, even if a ceasefire is achieved through this plan, will the Israeli Prime Minister escape accountability and justice for the genocide committed in Gaza? If this genocide is not prosecuted, it will stand as a historical precedent proving that the international community failed to bring perpetrators of genocide to justice.
We, Ahl-e-Sunnat wal Jamaat and the Bangladesh Supreme Party (BSP), clearly state that recognition or ceasefire alone is not enough to establish Palestinian sovereignty. For lasting peace in Palestine, a two-state solution based on UN Resolution 181(1) is the only realistic path. At the same time, Israel must be brought before international law for this horrific genocide.
