An emergency meeting of the Liberal Islamic Alliance was held today, Tuesday, August 6, 2024. The meeting was presided over by the Chairman of the Liberal Islamic Alliance and Bangladesh Supreme Party (BSP), Shahzada Dr. Syed Saifuddin Ahmad Maizbhandari.
During the meeting, it was unanimously decided to expel Mr. Misbahur Rahman Chowdhury, Chairman of a faction of Islami Oikya Jote, from the position of Executive Chairman of the Liberal Islamic Alliance. This decision was made due to his actions that were against the principles of the alliance, including making statements against the just movement of students and, thereby, standing in favor of the repression and persecution of the Awami League government without any discussion with other members of the alliance on August 3, 2024. He was also found engaging in activities contrary to the alliance’s policies at various times. In addition to his removal, it was decided, in consultation with all the allied parties of the Liberal Islamic Alliance, to relieve him of all forms of responsibilities within the alliance.
The meeting was attended by Liberal Islamic Alliance Co-Chairman and Bangladesh Jonodal (BJD) Chairman Mahbubur Rahman Joy Chowdhury; Co-Chairman of the Liberal Islamic Alliance and National Awami Party (NAP Bhasani) Chairman Hasrat Khan Bhasani; Secretary-General Khaled Shahriar; Additional Secretary-General of Bangladesh Supreme Party Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad; Senior Joint Secretary-General of Krishak Sramik Party (KSP) Mohammad Bacchu Howlader; Joint Secretary-General of Bangladesh Supreme Party Aslam Hossain; Bangladesh Supreme Party (BSP) Standing Council Member and Liberal Islamic Alliance Office Secretary Md.
