On October 14, 2024, thousands of devotees gathered from across the nation and abroad at the Maizbhandar Darbar Sharif to honor the 162nd Khoshroj Sharif of Hazrat Shah Sufi Maulana Syed Gholamur Rahman Baba Bhandari (Q.S.). This two-day commemoration, organized by Anjuman-e-Rahmania Moinia Maizbhandaria and various affiliated organizations, culminated in a prayer for Allah’s mercy upon the nation, peace amidst global unrest, and liberation for the oppressed.
In his keynote address, the Chairman of the Bangladesh Supreme Party (BSP) and Sajjadanishin of Maizbhandar Darbar Sharif, Hazrat Shah Sufi Dr. Syed Saifuddin Ahmed Al Hasani Wal Husseini Maizbhandari, emphasized the role of spiritual leaders, or Awliya Allah, in illuminating the inner darkness of humanity. Dr. Saifuddin noted that the Maizbhandar Darbar serves as a divine center for mercy and compassion, a place where no one leaves empty-handed.
Dr. Saifuddin condemned the acts of violence and desecration perpetrated by extremist groups against sacred sites like Khanqahs and shrines. He called upon the government to ensure the security of these religious sanctuaries and urged unity among all spiritual leaders to oppose this destructive force.
Highlighting the importance of Sufism, he remarked, “Sufism was once an integral part of the political strength of Muslims. Today, we must reinvigorate this consciousness in our educational and societal systems to restore ethical values.” He advocated for Tasawwuf (Sufism) as a means to inspire the younger generation toward a life of purpose and moral integrity.
The program concluded with a heartfelt prayer led by Dr. Saifuddin, seeking Allah’s blessings for the nation and peace for humanity. Special guests included leaders from the BSP and Moinia Youth Forum, as well as prominent spiritual scholars who shared insights into the importance of Sufi teachings in today’s world.
